The Intramural Research Program of the NINDS conducts research aimed at relieving the burden of neurological disorders and stroke. A major goal for the NINDS over the next decade will be determining how best to translate discoveries about the brain into better treatment and prevention of neurological disorders while also continuing to push the frontiers of basic neuroscience research yet further. Investigators in the NINDS intramural program conduct research in the basic, translational, and clinical neurosciences. Their specific interests cover a broad range of neuroscience research including:
Through collaboration, pre- and postdoctoral training programs, jointly sponsored seminar series, and special interest groups, NINDS investigators and investigators in other intramural programs (NIMH, NICHD, NIDCD, NEI, NIDCR, NIA, NIAAA, NIDA, NHGRI, NCI and NIEHS) contribute to a growing neuroscience research community at the National Institutes of Health.
